Burrinja Gallery
Arts & Cultural Centre
Burrinja offers a unique experience of indigenous art and culture and a range of events across Arts, Performance, Education and Community. It combines Indigenous art and cultural tours with exhibitions, theatre, café, music, artists & open studios and workshops.
Located in the Dandenong Ranges – just fifty minutes from central Melbourne and close to Puffing Billy – Burrinja is one of the most beautiful galleries in Melbourne. The collection of indigenous art housed within is equal to any in Australia.
Burrinja Gallery offers the rare opportunity to enter into the world of Aboriginal and Oceanic art and culture in a unique and engaging environment.
The Burrinja indigenous collection includes traditional and contemporary Aboriginal works of international significance from across all regions of Australia, combined with rare carvings, ceremonial masks and sculptures from Papua New Guinea.
Burrinja provides indigenous cultural tours related to works in the collection and hands-on Aboriginal art classes. Bookings necessary.
The fully licensed Burrinja café is open seven days. Check Burrinja’s web site for up-to-date exhibition and event details.
